Stress and anxiety in employees have emerged as the two most significant concerns for organizational productivity in modern times. As these health issues affect employees both physically and mentally, HR teams are striving to find the antidote to this rising problem. In this pursuit, many organizations today are adopting various fitness and meditation programs to increase employee productivity and decrease absenteeism. That said, “When stressed individuals undergo meditation therapy, they may grow more anxious as they continue to focus on the same issues perturbing them—further impacting their work-life balance,” says Vishal Sisodia, founder and CEO of Sumondo. “The key in this situation is to calm down the employees with music therapy and breathing exercises before delving into different health and fitness regimes.” With such a mindset, Denmark-based Sumondo is an innovative healthcare technology company that brings a new approach to perfect the art of employee wellbeing and healthier organizations.
While other wearables and healthcare apps are limited to measuring and presenting the vital signs on a digital display, Sumondo’s solution, including an app and an algorithm, guides the user with the methods to overcome stress. “We offer an end-to-end solution that is scientifically tested and medically validated,” says Sisodia. “Our solution allows HR teams to help the employees get better every day through awareness and reflection about their condition (measurements) and then music, meditation, and effective breathing. Besides, it makes people resilient as well.” The exercises will help the employees get calm and compel themselves to have breaks during work time (which will only make them more productive). However, the very cause of stress, not only the symptoms, should be addressed, and here Sumondo can help with organizational development, changing bad habits at work and at home, identifying inappropriatenesses in the division and coordination of work.
Our solution allows HR teams to help the employees get better every day through awareness, critical thinking, action, music, meditation, and effective breathing
Sisodia developed the solution based on his six years of extensive research in the area of stress and mental health. “We bring to the world a wellbeing solution that was till now localized to astronauts in space travel for preventing health hazards in hyper-sensitive environments,” he adds. The solution is also being used by hospitals and clinics to treat chronic patients. In developing this solution, India-born Sisodia has leveraged his deep-rooted relationship with spirituality and philosophy as well as his personal experiences to design the solution. The solution has different kinds of music of nature and instruments based on the various regions of the world (including Africa, Europe, and South America). Users can select the voice, tone, and rhythm of their choice to relax and reduce their stress levels.
The remote monitoring feature of the solution allows HR managers to be apprised of the stress levels in the employees. Business leaders and managers can control employee stress in the production department despite the work pressure. Sumondo has delivered proven results where an HR executive tested the solution on himself for three months; impressed by its performance, the HR incorporated the solution into the organization. Moreover, the data is anonymized within the solution to ensure maximum security. To bring its promising solution to a wider audience, Sumondo is open to offering customization and white labeling services. The solution is already gathering attention from insurance and employee wellness companies in the US.
Moving forward, Sumondo plans to add features like productivity index and sleep monitoring to its solution. The new features will be an added advantage to the business leaders in maintaining an active and loyal employee base. With such value to offer, Sumondo plans to expand in the US and UK markets.
